What does a neutral density filter do?
Neutral density filters absorb light evenly across the visible spectrum, thus lowering the intensity of light without changing its colour temperature.
ND filters are also used in HBO fluorescence to reduce the amount of energy coming from the bulb; an ND filter prevents rapid decay (bleaching) of the sample.
