Is there a good alternative choice for the 40x/60x "dry" objective to avoid the oiling "hazard" described?
If the 100x oil objective is used frequently, it might be advisable to substitute a 50x OIL immersion objective in place of the 40x "dry" objective. The 50x (N.A. 0.90) oil planachromat will yield much brighter images, with better resolution than the standard 40x (N.A. 0.65) dry planachromat or achromat.
